LABEL_WORK_DESCRIPTION

Memory is acknowledged by the earliest dance theorists as one of the fundamental principles in dance performances. However, memory is not only the most important requisite of a dancer, it also gives choreography the air of an art, even that of a science. Without memory there is no thought, nor knowledge. Stefan Franck and Bart Van Dessel pick up ideas developed in the 17th century, when artistic freedom was scientifically founded.

The tape has the structure of a baroque garden: a place of amusement but also an environment that inspires philosophical thinking. The dance-performance is a choreography by Marc Vanrunxt. ‘Ogni Pensiero Vola’ is the first part of the ’Conceit-trilogy’.
